Our method
Every watch starts long before it goes on sale. We look for interesting pieces, study references and market prices, check their condition when they arrive and only carry out the work we consider necessary. Then we document the result before offering it to the next owner.

An edition of the well-known GA‑2100 made with the French brand FUTUR. Its translucent grey resin, chequered dial and small gold, blue, white and red accents give it a distinctive presence without losing G‑Shock’s characteristic toughness.
The piece
Good overall used condition. The photographs show the actual piece and let you see the marks present on the bezel, case and translucent resin strap. It is not presented as new, and marks have not been hidden through editing.
The visible contents include the collaboration’s specific outer box, the G‑Shock tin and the tag. No additional documentation is advertised that is not shown in the photographs.

A dive chronograph with real presence, a blue dial and a two-colour red and blue bezel. This reference combines a steel construction, 300-metre water resistance and a Swiss quartz movement designed for precise, straightforward use.
The piece
Used piece in good overall condition. The photographs show the actual watch from the front, sides and caseback, without hiding the normal handling and use marks present on the case, bracelet and clasp.
It was supplied with its box, papers and extra links, all included in the gallery. The date shown on the papers is 2025. The piece has already found a new owner.

An Italian proposition with a blue guilloché dial, Japanese automatic movement and an aged finish applied at the factory. The exhibition caseback reveals the calibre and completes a relaxed, characterful piece far from the traditional flawless finish.
The piece
Piece in very good overall condition. Its deliberately aged finish is part of the brand’s visual language and should not be confused with accidental damage or wear. The gallery shows the actual watch from several angles.
The photographed contents include the box, warranty card and authenticity card. The visible documentation is dated 2026. The piece has already found a new owner.

A piece that came in for its panda-style dial and for a mechanism that is much less conventional than it first appears. The two sub-dials do not time a chronograph: they show the day of the week and the date, adjusted with the side pushers.
Why we bought it
The silver dial with black sub-dials recalls a classic chronograph, but hides a complete, easy-to-read calendar. The exhibition caseback reveals the Sea-Gull ST25 automatic movement and makes the mechanics part of the piece’s appeal.
The watch arrived with box, manual, tag and leather strap with deployant clasp. We photographed both the set and the details that help explain its construction.
What happened next
After documenting it, the watch found a new owner through Wallapop on 18 August 2026. This entry keeps its time with Reloj con Criterio as a record of a real operation, not as an out-of-stock product.

The question is not which is better. It is what you expect from the watch.
For years, a very simple hierarchy has taken hold: the automatic watch would be the authentic one and quartz a lesser alternative. But a movement does not make a piece interesting on its own. Design, construction, condition, reference and intended use matter just as much or more.
Quartz is usually more accurate, needs less attention and can spend weeks in a drawer before returning to the wrist without having to be set. For a daily, travel or beater watch, that convenience is not a compromise: it is a real advantage.
In return, the battery needs replacing from time to time and it offers less of the mechanical element many enthusiasts enjoy. In the secondary market, generic quartz watches also tend to need a particularly appealing reference, design or price to stand out.
An automatic is powered by the movement of the wrist. Knowing that a set of wheels, springs and gears is working beneath the dial without a battery is part of its charm. Mechanics add conversation, ritual and, in many cases, a special connection with the piece.
It is also less accurate, stops after some time without use and can be more complex to service. Choosing one means accepting these small inconveniences because they are part of what we seek in it.
The secondary market
An unknown automatic is not automatically a good buy. And a sought-after quartz watch does not stop being interesting because it has a battery. Brand, exact reference, condition, contents, demand and entry price are the facts that decide whether a piece makes sense.
That is why we prefer to study each watch before applying a fixed rule. Judgement begins when we stop buying a category and start buying a specific piece.
